Caifornia Vacation

A day at the lake in the mountains. We really didn't pull them on the tub but they had fun eating their lunch there. They girls never got in the water although it was a beautiful day. Dave, on the other hand. couldn't resist using the tube as a springboard.

The girls love riding with Dave on the dirt bike. The girls took their turn wearing Dave's helmit. I don't know how they could see where they were going!

Hailey always wanted some make up. She always begged us to put some on here. She's beautiful without it though.

On occasion they really could act nice to each other.

Sissy thought it would be funny to see what Daddy looked like in long hair so she draped Liz's hair over Dave's head and asked me to take his picture.

Sissy with the camera with the help of Daddy's long arm.

A day at putt putt. At first Hailey only wanted to keep the score, which she did very well, but she decided she wanted to play too.

On to Chuck E Cheeses. Dave helps Hailey pilot her way to winning tickets.

Sissy was busy with her own games. Here she helped "gather" eggs for prize tickets.

Hailey couldn't reach the controls when she tried it by herself.

Sissy's turn to take pictures. Since Dave had to work, I got to watch the girls the first few days I was in California. It was sometimes a challenge to keep them entertained but we managed just fine.

Summer Vacation - Hearst Castle

Entrance to the base where Dave was stationed.

Flying over the Grand Canyon was awesome. It's probably as close as I'll come for a while. I couldn't believe how wide it was and how beautiful even as far away as I was.

I told the girls if they went to sleep on the plane we would ge there faster. It seems it worked. We ALL fell asleep.

I can't believe this didn't hurt her neck but she never complained about it.

They really were very good on the plane. Seasoned travelers.

Took a trip to Hearst Castle the Saturday before I left. This is just one of the four guest houses on the estate.

The girls were so well behaved! They kept asking if we were going to see the princess who lived in the castle :).

They REALLY wanted to go swimming in the outdoor pool. Hailey saw the pool and said, "Now I know why you wanted us to bring extra clothes, Daddy!"

There were 17 changing rooms just off the pool court. This is one of two major swimming pools on the estate.

Hey, Nana. There's money in the fountain! Can we have it????

There were beautiful gardens everywhere!

This is the front of the main house.

The billiard room inside the main house. Notice anything different about this pool table???? No pockets!!

Out door, lighted tennis courts. Part of the court was glass to light the indoor swimming pool that was under the tennis court.

The inside swimming pool had gold inlay. This picture doesn't do it justice. It was gorgeous. The girls couldn't swim in this one either. Sorry girls!!

On the way back from the castle, the scenery was beautiful and so varied. Flat land, sudden hill, mountains in the distance.

And of course, the beautiful Pacific Ocean. It was a little overcast that day but I did manage to get a couple nice pictures when the sun poked through the clouds.

Waiting at the Oxnard airport for my flight to leave. It was a 17 minute flight to LA airport. It would have taken about an hour to drive it.

The little prop plane I took to LA. Notice the patches on the wing! This picture was taken in mid flight. I thought this shot was cool because it looks like the prop wasn't even turning. Of course, it was. I'm not crazy about little planes, but this flight wasn't bad at all. No problems on the way home. Good bye California :(.
